Ghost Stories Movie Review

1

I have never written a movie review before this is my first time so please be gentle with me.

I have no idea if this movie is going to make it around the world but have to say it would be a great shame if it didn’t. To write a review of this film is in some ways easy for me but in other ways hard.

Without giving too much away, the film stars some well known UK names including Martin Freeman and Paul Whitehouse. The film is about a Paranormal Investigator who has three ghost stories he has to investigate. The film has been based on a stage show ghost stories which appeared for some years in London’s West End. I was lucky enough to be able to see the show live and personally, I preferred the live show over the movie, but this is going to happen on most occasions very similar to the Women in Black.

The movie just like the stage show is very jumpy. I will be honest it is a film you should get back and watch a second time as there are a lot of things you will miss on the first time you watch it but everything will become clear as the film unfolds at the end. I knew what was coming which is a shame from seeing the stage show but there were quite a few differences.

I don’t want to spoil this film for anyone going to watch it as with the stage show it said you have to promise not to tell anyone about what you have just seen. This leaves a lot of mystery about the film, and it makes it work for people who go to watch. The film also includes religion, spirituality and psychological torment.

I will say the acting is superb Professor Goodman played by Andy Nyman who is also the Director. I would give this film an easy 4 out of 5. The reason for not giving it a five as I felt the Stage show was much better but I am in no way saying they could have made the film better then it was. If your going to watch the movie at home when it comes out on DVD make sure you turn those surround speakers up full. I would say for the whole experience you will need to go the cinema and enjoy the ride.

Below I have listed some great costumes especially for Halloween which I am guessing will be very close to the DVD release of Ghost Stories. None of these costumes are official costumes, but they are the closest I could locate to what could be a tribute to the film.
